Honey-caramel ice cream sundaes with apples

Ingredients:

Sauce:

  • 1 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup butter (cut into small pieces)
  • 2 tablespoons Blossom Bees' honey
  • 1 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Apples:

  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3 large apples (peeled, cored, and cut into 8 wedges each)
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • Vanilla ice cream
  • Toasted pecans (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Make the Sauce:
    • Put brown sugar, cream, butter, and honey in a pot.
    • Cook on low heat, stirring until sugar dissolves. Boil for 3 minutes.
    • Add spices, a pinch of salt, and pepper. Stir in vanilla. (You can make this ahead and reheat.)
  2. Cook the Apples:
    • Melt butter in a large pan.
    • Add apple slices and sprinkle with brown sugar.
    • Cook for about 12 minutes until apples are soft and a bit brown.
  3. Make the Sundaes:
    • Put ice cream in bowls.
    • Pour warm sauce over ice cream and add cooked apples on top.
    • Sprinkle with pecans if you like.

Cook's Note:

  • The sauce can be made ahead of time and reheated when ready to serve.
